Pessary care in clinical practice: A hands-on workshop

Hosted at the Dianne and Irving Kipnes Health Research Institute (previously ECHA) 11405 87 Ave NW, University of Alberta on June 8, 2026 from 6:00-8:30 pm MT Facilitated by Dr. Annick Poirier, Dr. Mae Sanaee

Learning objectives:
  • Establish appropriate follow-up intervals for patient independent or not with pessary care.
  • Conduct a systematic follow-up examination by asking about new symptoms, removing the pessary, inspecting the vagina for irritation and erosions, cleaning the pessary and reinserting it.
  • Understand the importance of vaginal estrogen consideration at pessary follow-u visits.
  • Recognize and manage common pessary side effects and complications
  • Answer common patient questions about pessary self-care, including, cleaning frequency and method, sexual activity, use of vaginal estrogen, ect…
  • Recognize when to refer back to Urogynecology or specialist pessary care.

Full refunds, cancellations and transfers will be accepted up until digital course materials are sent out. After that time, we will only be able to issue a partial 50% refund. After June 1, 2026 there are no refunds.

If the workshop is cancelled by the Office of Lifelong Learning due to low enrollment or other unforeseen circumstances, you will be issued a full refund or have the option of transferring your enrollment to another open session.
