This course is available to both dentists and dental hygienists.

The deadline to register is 3 weeks prior to each in-person course session date, in order to provide sufficient time for completing the online course and exams (registration past this deadline may be permitted, provided you acknowledge you will ensure completion of the pre-study content and eClass prior to the clinical session).

Modules

This certification covers modalities 1, 2, 3, and 5 in Alberta.

  • Modality 1.0 Nitrous Oxide Sedation for patients 12 years of age and older
  • Modality 2.0 Nitrous Oxide Sedation for patients under 12 years of age

How to access course materials

eClass access will be provided approximately 1 month prior to your course date.

Course Materials

Participants will be required to purchase the textbook "Sedation: A Guide to Patient Management" 6th Edition, by Dr. Stanley F. Malamed. ISBN:0323400531. The textbook can be purchased from the University of Alberta Bookstore at 780-492-4215 for approximately $100 or through Amazon or Chapters. Some pre-reading/pre-study will be assigned prior to your attendance at the course.

Prerequisites

  • Active practicing license from your dental regulatory authority in Canada.
  • Participants must have a current CPR certificate (BLS – issued within the last 12 months that will remain valid through the clinical sessions).

Valid, current documentation is required in order to attend this clinical course.

Policies

Cancellations

Due to the significant demand, scope and requirements of this program, tuition refunds will not be facilitated with the exception of extreme circumstances. 

Transfers

Transfer to a future session may be facilitated under certain extenuating circumstances, and with sufficient notice provided, particularly for clinical session transfers (2.5 months notice at minimum for clinical sessions, provided a spot is available in the following clinical session – transfer fee may apply).

CE Credits/Hours Disclaimer

The University of Alberta does not award nor guarantee the number of CE credits earned, Letters of Attendance must be submitted to your regulatory authority who will issue the CE credits.

Confirmation of Registration

You will receive a confirmation email once payment has been received. All other course materials will be sent with email instructions one month before the course start date.

Attendance Policy

Due to the new dental guidelines, participants are required to sign-in before each session for proof of attendance.
