This Local Anaesthesia Continuing Education Clinical Evaluation Course is only open to those participants who have contacted ACDH and are required by the ACDH to take this assessment course.  

Please see below for an outline of the evaluation course. Upon registering an email with further details regarding the course evaluation process will be sent.

Course Schedule: 

Saturday, January 20th, 2024: 1:30PM - 4:30PM

Injections Evaluated: 

SI: Supraperiosteal (15)

IO: Infraorbital (Q1 or Q2)

PSA: Posterior Superior Alveolar (Q1 or Q2)

GP: Greater Palatine (Q1 or Q2)

NP: Nasopalatine

MI: Mental Incisive (Q3, Q4 opposite quadrate to IA/L)

IA/L: Inferior Alveolar with Lingual (Q3, Q4 opposite quadrant to MI)

LB: Long Buccal

Review Injections: 

In order to review the injections, access to the University of Alberta's eClass can be given. The eClass has review material and videos of each injection that will be evaluated. Please contact dentce@ualberta.ca to set up your eClass account.

Course Communication

Further communication will be sent to registered participants 2 weeks before the clinic evaluation day (January 5, 2024). The email will include further course information, the course injection schedule, and a list of things to bring (i.e. appropriate attire) to the course.  All Instruments will be supplied for you.  

Questions are allowed prior to the clinical evaluations but a full review of each injection prior to evaluations is not allowed. Please review eclass material until the clinic day. 

Prerequisites  

  • Participants must be certified a R.D.H. or R.N. and hold a current Registration Practice Permit. 
  • Candidates must also hold a current CPR certificate (validity is 12 months from the date of issue). 
  • Participants must take this evaluation course as required by the ACDH.

  •  REGISTRATION CONFIRMS YOUR COMMITMENT TO THE COURSE. 
  • Withdrawal more than 1 week after the published course registration deadline date is not eligible for refund, unless the withdrawal is due to medical conditions (must be requested in writing accompanied by a letter from the participant’s physician.) 
  • ***If you have any contraindications to receiving local anesthetic, you must arrange to bring your own proxy patient to receive injections on your behalf. (For the purposes of this clinic, pregnancy in all trimesters is a contraindication).
  • This course fee is subject to tuition increases to reflect operational costs.
