Program Overview

This program teaches the foundational prosthetic and surgical skills for dental implantology. The Alberta Implant Residency consists two parts:

  1. Online Theory course
  2. Hands-On Surgical course

Residency Schedule

2025 Schedule

  • The deadline to register for the theory course is Dec 31, 2024.
  • The deadline to register for the surgical course is Jan 1, 2025.

Payment Schedule

If you plan on completing the full residency you can pay a lump sum or register for the theory course then pay for the surgical course in three equal installments. If you opt to pay in installments you must adhere to the following schedule.

At registration. Note, this saves your spot in the residency.

Installment 2 Due 2 weeks before the posted date for live surgery session 1. 
Installment 3 Due 2 weeks before the posted date for live surgery session 2.

Important: Failure to pay on time may result in late fees, an inability to access eClass, or removal from the course without refund. Please note payment in full is required to revieve your letter of attendance following the completion of the course.

How to Access Course Materials

Course materials can be found on eClass. An email will be sent out to all participants with directions on how to access eClass.

Bringing and RDA

You can bring one RDA for free to attend the implant residency with you. If you want to bring an additional RDA, there's a $250 fee.

Requirements

Online Theory Course

  • DDS/DMD degree & active practicing license from your dental regulatory authority in Canada.
  • Copies of documentation are required following registration.

Hands-on Surgical Course

  • Successful completion of Theory Course.  Note, the hands-on surgical course must be completed within two years of the online theory course. After the two-year mark participants will be required to retake the online theory course.
  • DDS/DMD degree with NDEB exam completion or equivalency & active practicing license from your dental regulatory authority in Canada.
  • Letter of good standing from your current dental regulatory authority in Canada
  • Copies of documentation are required following registration.

Getting CE Credits

Upon successful completion of the theory and hand-on surgical courses, participants will receive a certificate of completion which must be submitted to your regulatory authority. Note, a certificate of completion is not a certification; if applicable; it is your regulator who will certify you.

Withdrawal before course materials have been accessed A cancellation fee of 20% of the course cost will apply unless the withdrawal is due to a medical condition.  Please email cdeair@ualberta.ca if you with to withdraw.
Withdrawal after course materials have been accessed Refunds are not available unless the withdrawal is due to a medical condition.
Withdrawal 48 hours before the theory course start date Refunds are not available unless the withdrawal is due to a medical condition.
Withdrawal 2 weeks before the surgical course start date Refunds are not available unless the withdrawal is due to a medical condition.
