Management of Sleep Disordered Breathing (Level 2)
Course Description (Objectives):
Introduce dentists to the clinical management of sleep-disordered breathing in a dental practice. Dentists will receive didactic and clinical training on examining and assessing a patient for sleep-disordered breathing, identifying and reviewing medical and sleep history, appropriate intervention selection, appropriate dental appliance selection, proper appliance delivery and delivery, and side effect management. Dentists who complete this course should be confident in providing dental interventions for patients with sleep-disordered breathing without significant comorbid diseases. Dentists who complete this course will be certified to practice Dental Sleep Medicine in the Province of Alberta for 3 years.
Completion of “Intro to Dental Sleep Medicine” and passing all competency quizzes
Direct clinical training with course mentors, cadaver lab review of anatomy, live training and trial of dental sleep appliances along with adjustments and side effect management. Appliances made from clinical records on Day 2 of Weekend 1 will be provided to each participant on Day 1 of Weekend 2.
